Keeping Corrected Paint Looking Its Best

A ceramic coating is a layer of protection that bonds to your paint and locks in the finish underneath. For cars, we add a coating to a Stage 1, 2 or 3 detail in place of the standard sealant, so it always goes onto paint that has been fully prepared and machine polished.

We offer three coatings: ceramic, graphene and self healing. Each one protects the paint for 3 to 5 years, adds deep gloss and makes the car easier to keep clean, so the finish created by the detail stays glossy and protected for years after the work is done.

A ceramic coating is applied wherever your detail takes place, at our unit or at your home or workplace, and we cover Bedford and the surrounding towns, including Luton, Milton Keynes, Cambridge, Northampton and Towcester. A ceramic coating can also be added to a motorbike valet, for riders who want the same gloss and easier cleaning on their bike.

What a Coating Does

What a Ceramic Coating Does for Your Paint

A coating bonds to the paint and forms a protective layer over the clear coat. It deepens the gloss of freshly corrected paint, and it makes water bead and run off the surface, taking some of the dirt with it. Because dirt finds it harder to cling to a coated surface, the car is easier to clean, and a safe wash brings the shine straight back.

A coating also helps protect the paint from UV, which over time can fade and dull an unprotected finish. It will not stop stone chips or scratches, and the car still needs regular washing, but it keeps the paint protected and easier to look after for 3 to 5 years.

  • A surface that is easier to clean
  • Protection from UV
  • 3 to 5 years of protection

How to Choose Your Coating

All three coatings go onto corrected paint in the same way and share the same core benefits: gloss, water beading, easier cleaning and UV protection, for 3 to 5 years. The main differences are the price and, with the Self Healing Coating, one extra quality: light surface marks soften with warmth.

If you would like help choosing, tell us about the car, how it is used and how you look after it, and we will help you decide. The coating goes on after the final panel wipe, in place of the sealant, so you can choose it at the same time as you book your stage.

Great service and very professional. Ceramic coating makes the car look better than when I picked it up from the showroom.

Why a Coating Needs Corrected Paint

A coating bonds to whatever is underneath it and locks it in. If it went onto paint with swirl marks, scratches or bonded contamination, those defects would be sealed under the coating for years. That is why, on cars, our coatings are added to a Stage 1, 2 or 3 detail, after the paint has been washed, decontaminated, dried and machine polished.

Paint in good condition needs only a Stage 1 Enhancement before its coating, while swirl marks and scratches call for a Stage 2 or Stage 3 paint correction first. A panel wipe then removes polishing residue, so the coating bonds to clean, bare paint and the finish you see is the finish that is protected.

Looking After a Coating

Keeping a Coating Performing Well

A coating makes the car easier to wash, but it still needs washing, and the way it is washed matters. A gentle hand wash with a pH neutral shampoo and soft microfibre towels cleans the surface without stripping it, and regular washing stops traffic film building up and dulling the gloss and water beading.

Our maintenance plan offers a safe maintenance wash every week or every month, which keeps the car showroom fresh and helps protect its value. Each visit uses the same careful method as the rest of our work, so a coated car is cleaned with the same care that went into preparing it.

Coating Your Motorbike or Moped

A ceramic coating can be added to our motorbike valet for an additional cost. The valet starts from £80 for a moped and from £100 for a motorbike, and includes a pre wash and rinse, snow foam worked into the intricate areas with a soft detailing brush, a two bucket wash, polished chrome pipes and paintwork, and ACF-50 to help prevent corrosion.

On a bike, a coating brings the same gloss, water beading and easier cleaning as it does on a car, on everything from mopeds to larger motorbikes. Please ask us for the price of a coating when you book your motorbike valeting, and we will talk you through it.

Questions We Get Asked

Something else? See every question or call 07734 374012.

What Does a Ceramic Coating Do?

A ceramic coating bonds to your paint and adds a protective layer that deepens the gloss, makes water bead and run off, helps protect against UV and makes the car easier to clean. Ours protects the paint for 3 to 5 years and is added to a Stage 1, 2 or 3 detail.

How Long Does a Ceramic Coating Last on a Car?

Our ceramic, graphene and self healing coatings each protect the paint for 3 to 5 years. Regular, safe washing helps a coating perform at its best throughout that time, which is why we offer maintenance washes weekly or monthly on our maintenance plan.

How Much Does a Ceramic Coating Cost?

A ceramic coating costs from £350, added to a Stage 1, 2 or 3 detail. The Graphene Coating starts from £400 and the Self Healing Coating from £500. The detail is priced separately, from £250 for a small car on Stage 1, and prices may vary depending on location.

What Is the Difference Between a Sealant and a Ceramic Coating?

A sealant is the protection every detailing stage finishes with as standard, adding gloss and durable protection. A ceramic coating is an upgrade that bonds to the paint in place of the sealant and protects it for 3 to 5 years, with water beading, easier cleaning and UV protection over that time.

Does Paint Need Correcting Before a Ceramic Coating?

Yes, the paint should be prepared and polished first, which is why our coatings are added to a Stage 1, 2 or 3 detail. A coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so paint with swirl marks or scratches is best corrected with a Stage 2 or Stage 3 before the coating goes on.

Will a Ceramic Coating Stop Scratches?

No, a coating will not stop scratches or stone chips, but it does protect the paint and make it easier to wash safely. Since swirl marks mostly start with unsafe washing and drying, easier and safer washing helps the finish stay at its best. Our Self Healing Coating adds one more benefit: light surface marks soften with warmth.

Can You Ceramic Coat a Motorbike?

Yes, a ceramic coating can be added to our motorbike valet for an additional cost. The valet starts from £80 for a moped and from £100 for a motorbike, and includes a high gloss sealant, polished chrome pipes and paintwork, and ACF-50 to help prevent corrosion. Please ask for the coating price when you book.
