Car Valeting in Cambridge Planned Around Your Parking

Car valeting in Cambridge begins with a practical question: where does the car spend its time? Ride Effect is a valeting and detailing business based in Bedford, and Cambridge is one of the six towns and cities we cover, along with the villages and new towns around it. We can come to your drive or to your workplace car park, or you can bring the car to our unit, and in each case it receives the same safe two bucket hand wash with pH neutral shampoo.

In Cambridge, the answer is often the street outside. Cambridge City Council’s electric vehicle strategy, published in September 2019, notes that much of the city has terraced housing with on street parking for residents. The 2021 Census found 30.7% of Cambridge households in purpose built flats and 27.6% in terraced houses, while only 10.9% were in detached houses, compared with 22.9% for England as a whole. So we plan every visit around the parking, and we offer choices for owners without a drive.

We cover the city and the places around it, including Chesterton and King’s Hedges (CB4), Romsey Town and Cherry Hinton (CB1), Newnham (CB3) and Trumpington (CB2), along with villages such as Histon (CB24), Great Shelford (CB22) and Fulbourn (CB21). Both valeting levels are available on a visit, the Maintenance Wash from £65 and the Extensive Clean from £160 for a small car, and the mobile car valeting page sets out how a visit works, step by step.

No Drive at Home

When the Car Is Parked on the Street

Much of Romsey Town (CB1), the late Victorian terraced streets off Mill Road beyond the railway bridge, lies within the Mill Road Conservation Area. The appraisal of that area, published in June 2011, describes a well preserved Victorian suburb whose main building type is the two storey terraced house, and in Romsey Town mainly narrow terraces of 1880 to 1910. North of Mill Road the terraces face directly onto the pavement, and the appraisal lists the demand for on street car parking among the area’s issues.

Mobile car valeting in Cambridge does not depend on having a drive. If the car is kept near your home, let us know where it is parked when you book, and we can discuss whether there is room to walk around it and open every door before anything is agreed. If a visit there is not practical, a valet at your workplace or a drop off at our unit gives the car exactly the same care.

Flats raise a similar question. Orchard Park (CB4) is an estate of houses and flats, and Eddington (CB3) is the University of Cambridge’s new neighbourhood in North West Cambridge. If your car is kept in the car park of a block of flats, please check that we can reach it on the day and that there is space on every side.

Resident Parking Schemes and Your Valet

Resident parking in Cambridge is run by Cambridgeshire County Council, which says it has 23 schemes in operation, each with its own hours. The hours differ widely: one scheme applies on weekday mornings only, from 9am to midday, while several run seven days a week until 8pm. The Newtown scheme (CB2), for example, applies every day from 9am to 8pm, and the Newnham scheme (CB3) applies every day from 11am to 2pm.

During scheme hours, a tradesperson who parks in a resident permit bay needs a tradesperson permit for that scheme area, bought with a job sheet as evidence of the works, and the county council asks applicants to allow three working days for it to review an application. So if your car is kept in a scheme, tell us which one and where the car usually sits, and we will agree the right place for the work with you before the day is confirmed.

Our Services in Cambridge

In Cambridge and the villages around it, every service listed here can be carried out at your home, at your workplace or at our unit.

01

Mobile Car Detailing in Cambridge

Mobile car detailing in Cambridge depends on where the car can stay for the days the work takes. A drive in Histon, Great Shelford or Fulbourn suits it well, and for a car kept on a terraced street or in a resident parking scheme, the detail can be done at your workplace or at our unit.

02

Paint Correction in Cambridge

Paint correction in Cambridge starts with the car washed, fully decontaminated and dried, and its trims masked. A Stage 2 Correction from £450 removes moderate swirl marks and light scratches, and a Stage 3 Correction from £700 deals with heavy swirls, scratches and other paint defects over 2 to 5 days.

03

Ceramic Coating in Cambridge

Ceramic coating in Cambridge is from £350, with graphene from £400 and self healing from £500, and each one protects the paint for 3 to 5 years. Through the county gritting season, from 1 November to 15 April, a coated car is easier to wash clean; without a coating, every stage still finishes with a sealant.

04

Motorbike Valeting in Cambridge

Motorbike valeting in Cambridge is from £80 for a moped and £100 for a motorbike, at your home, at work or at our unit, from Chesterton and Cherry Hinton to Milton and Waterbeach. Each bike has its chrome pipes and paintwork polished and ACF-50 applied to help prevent corrosion.

At Your Workplace

Valeting at Work Across Cambridge

A valet at work suits a car that stays parked at your workplace through the day, and it can be the simplest answer when the car is parked on the street at home. Places of work around Cambridge include Cambridge Science Park, founded by Trinity College in 1970 and about two miles north of the centre by junction 33 of the A14, and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus at the southern end of Hills Road, home to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Royal Papworth Hospital.

Wherever you work, please make sure we will be able to enter the car park, tell us where the car will be and remove any valuables beforehand. Our maintenance plan can run at work too, following an Extensive Clean with maintenance washes weekly or monthly. If your business runs several cars or vans, our fleet valeting brings scheduled care to your premises with one standard for every vehicle, and we will price the fleet with you.

Recommended by a friend, I was cleaning the car myself and wouldn’t let anyone do it. Now he’s the only person I will let touch my Piano Black Urban Defender. Every time I get it cleaned it looks brand new.

Through the Year

Cambridge Roads and Winter Care

The side of a grey McLaren 600LT on a wet yard after its wash

Three main roads meet north west of the city at Girton (CB3), where the M11 ends at junction 14, the Girton Interchange, and becomes the A14. The A14 then crosses the north of Cambridge towards Newmarket, the A428 runs west past Hardwick (CB23) to Caxton Gibbet, and the A10 leaves the A14 at junction 33 by Milton (CB24), heading north past Landbeach and Waterbeach (CB25) towards Ely.

Cambridgeshire County Council’s gritting season runs from 1 November to 15 April, and Cambridge City is one of its three gritting areas. Through those months a regular wash keeps on top of what the roads leave behind. Every Maintenance Wash cleans the wheel faces and inner barrels, cleans and rinses the wheel arches and includes a citrus pre wash of the door shuts and sills, and an Extensive Clean adds tar and glue remover and an iron fallout treatment.

Questions in Cambridge

Something else? See every question or call 07734 374012.

How Much Does a Car Valet Cost in Cambridge?

A Maintenance Wash in Cambridge starts from £65 for a small car, £75 for a medium car, £85 for a large car and £95 for an extra large vehicle, and an Extensive Clean starts from £160. Prices can vary with location, so we confirm yours before you book, and the booking is secured by a £10 deposit per vehicle.

Can You Valet My Car If I Live in a Terrace or a Flat?

Yes, we can valet it in the car park at your workplace, or you can drop it off at our unit. If the car is parked near your home, give us its location when you book and we can look at whether a visit there would work. Cambridge City Council notes that much of the city has terraced housing with on street parking, so we always ask.

Can You Valet a Car Parked in a Cambridge Resident Parking Scheme?

It depends on the scheme and where the car sits, so please tell us both when you book. Cambridgeshire County Council runs the city’s resident parking schemes, and during scheme hours a tradesperson parking in a resident permit bay needs a tradesperson permit for that scheme area. If a visit near home is not practical, a valet at work or a drop off at our unit are good options.

Can You Valet My Car at Work in Cambridge?

Yes, your car can be valeted in your workplace car park while you are at work. Please confirm that we will be able to enter the car park and let us know where the car will be parked. Businesses with several cars or vans can arrange scheduled fleet care at their premises, and we will price the fleet with you.

Which Villages Around Cambridge Do You Cover?

We cover the villages and new towns around Cambridge as well as the city itself, including Histon and Impington (CB24), Girton (CB3), Great Shelford and Sawston (CB22), Fulbourn (CB21), Waterbeach and Bottisham (CB25), Cambourne and Bar Hill (CB23) and Northstowe (CB24). The compass on this page lists more places, with each one’s distance from the centre of Cambridge.

Do You Offer Car Detailing in Cambridge?

Yes, we offer all three detailing stages: a Stage 1 Enhancement from £250, a Stage 2 Correction from £450 and a Stage 3 Correction from £700, each for a small car. Stages 1 and 2 take 1 to 2 days and Stage 3 takes 2 to 5 days, so we plan the work with you, at your home or at our unit.

How Much Is a Ceramic Coating in Cambridge?

A ceramic coating starts from £350 and is added to a Stage 1, 2 or 3 detail. The graphene coating is from £400 and the self healing coating from £500, and each one protects the paint for 3 to 5 years. Without a coating, every stage still finishes with a sealant.
